Rusty sink is one of the two top issuess when it comes to the kitchen sink. As we all know, stainless steel does not rust. When stainless items in the kitchen such as spoons, forks, and even the sink are rusty, it is a result of foreign iron particles. Sometimes, high iron content in the tap water also causes rust in the sink.
To remove rust on your sink, we have listed some of the solutions from to help you get rid of it.
1. Salt and Lemon Juice – No matter what type of sink you have in your kitchen, it is best to clean it first so that it will be easier to spot the rust. Once cleaned, sprinkle enough table salt over the rust (enough to cover the rusty spots). Then, squirt some lemon juice on top of the salt. Ideally, the lemon juice should come from a fresh lemon for maximum result. Let it stay for an hour or more, then scrub the area with salt with a kitchen scrub pad.
2. Baking Soda – Though stainless steel is an excellent addition for your home-improvement, there will come a time that it will suffer from rust. Another way to remove rusty residue is by pouring a little baking soda into a bowl with enough water to create a paste. Once done, apply it over the rusty spots and wait for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Scrub the area with a sponge or brush and rinse it after a minute.
3. CIF Cream Detergent – For more stubborn rust on your kitchen sink, you may apply CIF cream detergent. First, wet the area where there is rust then apply the cream. Polish the rusty spots away using a soft cloth. Always put in mind to wet the sink thoroughly since the water acts as the lubricant for the powdery CIF detergent. Also, do not use a casual cloth as its rough texture might scratch the sink’s surface. You may use the fabric used for the car wash to avoid scratch on the sink.
